Community-Based Social Marketing - Turning Awareness into ActionAt — Communities for Sustainable Monterey County (CSMC)
Service-learning students will help Communities for Sustainable Monterey County (CSMC) promote community-based environmental projects throughout Monterey County. Working primarily remotely, students will collaborate with CSMC board members and project leaders to gather stories, photographs, event information, and educational resources related to Climate Action, Soil and Food Health, Home Green Living, Waste Reduction, and Nature Restoration and Rewilding.
Students will create engaging social media content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Depending on their interests and skills, assignments may include writing posts, designing graphics, producing short videos, developing a content calendar, and reviewing audience engagement.
This project offers practical experience in environmental communication, marketing, advocacy, and community engagement while supporting CSMC’s mission to help local communities equitably adopt sustainable and regenerative practices. Students will receive regular guidance, feedback, and opportunities to connect with local environmental leaders.
