Fellows can pull small groups to reinforce classroom instruction, assist students who need extra practice, and provide differentiated activities.
By the end of this opportunity, fellows will have developed the skills to effectively facilitate small group instruction, implement evidence-based academic support strategies, differentiate instruction to meet the diverse student needs, and collaborate with classroom teachers to improve student learning.
Fellows will receive initial onboarding and ongoing personalized professional development to prepare them to effectively support student learning. Training will include: an overview of the school's instructional model, curriculum, and academic expectations. Additionally, best practices for facilitating small group instruction will be shared. Strategies for differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including English learners and students requiring additional support, will be provided. Additional training will include: classroom management and PBIS techniques; effective communication and collaboration with classroom teachers; confidentiality and mandated reporter requirements as well as ongoing coaching, observation, and collaboration with instructional coaches and mentor teachers to refine instructional practices.
