Volunteers Cleaning Communities

We are a community-based nonprofit 501c3 organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, cleaner, environmental friendly, litter-free place. With the help of amazing community volunteers, we organize cleaning events to clean our local streets of litter and through the Adopt A Highway Program we clean a 6 1/2 mile section of the 118 Freeway from the on and off ramp of DeSoto to the on and off ramp of Balboa both the north and south sides.

Education
The classes, workshops, and seminars offered at the Women's Center are designed to address issues of concern to women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and marginalized groups as a whole."

The Women's Center works to collaborate with well known speakers to address contemporary issues facing CSUN's women and the entirety of its diverse population, specifically with an emphasis on topics such as menstrual equity and gender identity. Many of the Center's programs, events, and collaborations are academically co-sponsored by the Women's Studies Department.
Seminar and workshop topics range from self-defense to personal health and from spirituality to political issues. The Women's Center is dedicated to bringing well known speakers to address contemporary issues facing CSUN's women. Most programs and events are academically co-sponsored by the Women's Studies Department.
The Women's Center also houses a library of feminist and queer studies-related texts and readings, which provide an informal atmosphere for studying, socializing and relaxing open to all students."
Support
The Women's Center is open to all students and faculty alike. The Center and its resources are available on an as-needed basis, and all students are encouraged to stop by when they need a safe space to seek out peer support or other services that may not be offered elsewhere on campus.
Informal peer support is always available at the Women's Center. Support and discussion groups offer valuable forums for personal growth and exploration in such topics as sexuality, self-esteem and body image, health and feminist spirituality. Currently, the Center is home to the Feminist Student Association, which meets weekly to discuss these topics and more within the context of feminism as they relate to the increasingly diverse student population here at CSUN.
Additionally, the Center places a heavy emphasis on intersectionality and seeks to uplift and support students who are concerned with gender equity both on campus and in the greater community.
Referrals
The Women's Center maintains an extensive referral file for the campus and community. This resource is available on a phone-in or walk-in basis. The file encompasses a wide range of local practitioners, agencies and organizations specializing in such areas of concern as women's health, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence support, housing insecurity, counseling and legal aid.
The Women's Center occasionally hosts an Open House to showcase resources and opportunities for student and community involvement. Events are planned throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. In March, the Women's Center sponsors Women's History Month with a series of events celebrating women from diverse perspectives.
