Residential Services Coordinator-Intern At — Hope Cooperative - New Direction
You will have the opportunity to work in our Crisis Respite Center which is a 24/7 Center for adults experiencing some type of mental health urgent need. Our goal is to provide services to people who are emotionally "stuck" and do not know where to turn. Guests (as we call them) can stay at the Center for up to 23 hours. Although it is not a shelter and we do not have beds, we provide these services primarily to the unhoused population. At this center we provide support and resources to assist in resolving their current dilemma.
The student will learn the diversity of urgent psychological needs and crisis. They will learn how to address the Guests in a kind and compassionate manner and to assist with resources to address their concerns. The student will learn how to conduct a phone interview and assess the feasibility of offering admittance to our program. They will learn engagement tools and skills needed to address a highly diverse population who bring highly diverse individual crises and dilemmas. They will learn how to work as a team to provide these services.

We take the safety of our staff very seriously at Hope Cooperative. The student will never be left along at the Center. The student does significant shadowing of other staff. Regarding COVID, we strictly adhere to the most current protocols per Cal-OSHA. We are considered to be "essential workers" so provide masks and sanitation gels and ensure the Center is clean. We review all current safety protocols with all new staff and students.
