Opportunity Summary
- Provide therapy services for children ages 6-18 years old (Individual, Family, Collateral Parent, Targeted Case Management, Group)
- Participate in weekly individual and group supervision
- Learn how to conduct all phases of treatment and the importance of each step in the process
- Integrating the family and other providers (e.g., psychiatric nurse practitioner) into treatment
Opportunity Learning Outcomes
- How to provide a constellation of services to child clients; working with caregivers and other providers.
- The effective use of individual and group supervision.
- Medi-Cal documentation standards.
- Selecting the location of therapy, e.g., office, school, community, telehealth. Understanding and administering screening and assessment tools; treatment planning.
- Tracking and completing all county requirements.
- Therapeutic interventions and how to plan for sessions using interventions based on the child's presenting issues, diagnosis, and needs.
- When to consult your supervisor; confidentiality and the limits of confidentiality; child safety and making a CWS report.
- Scheduling, conducting, and documenting the intake session.
- Planning weekly sessions with the child client such as selecting interventions, gathering intervention materials.
- Documenting weekly client sessions.
- Involving the parent(s) in services.
- Coordinating with other providers.
- Documenting all types of services.
- Using the electronic health record.
- Different therapy approaches, specific interventions, and matching the interventions to the client's needs.
Opportunity Training
- Computer based training through Relias on a variety of topics appropriate to the role.
- Computer based training on assessment tools: CANS/ANSA.
- Presentations, e.g, in all staff meeting by experienced therapists on a variety of topics; training by UCDavis psychologists as available on early psychosis topics.
- Documentation training remotely for Solano County Medi-Cal documentation standards.
- One to one training and coaching by individual supervisor and follow up to ensure understanding.
- Observing supervisor or experienced therapist conducting required tasks. Being observed and receiving coaching and feedback by supervisor.
Additional risk specific to this opportunity
Students are provided with information on off-site safety. Students are required to put all activities in the Outlook calendar so staff can see where they are at all times Students are provided with information on office safety such as fire drills and location of fire extinguishers. Students have an agency issued cell phone and can contact supervisor or alternates at any time. Aldea has covid policies and procedures that are updated and disseminated regularly and students are provided with ppe and are required to be vaccinated and boosted.
