Opportunity Summary 

The PSH Dept. houses unhoused individuals that may never mainstream. They come straight from the streets or are from a shelter. They typically have some kind of disability- mental health, physical, or AOD. They are usually older clients ( over 50 but not all) -- both male and female. The client can stay in the program as long as needed. We have a scattered site model. Each intern will have the opportunity to intake new clients as well as be the case worker to assist develop case plans including live skills and work with their clients for the full academic year. You will be provided training but will have an opportunity to work directly with clients for most or your internship. We frequently hire interns who succeed.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

When you finish this opportunity you will be an experienced Case Worker . You will be highly employable with professional experience learning from one of our most amazing case workers who is currently in the MSW program.

Opportunity Training 

Your Field Instructor is an experienced case worker who is in the MSW program at Sac State. The FI has been a FI for several years and is experienced in all aspects of Internship. Much of your training will be shadowing and in the field. You will be trained in the HMIS system which most homeless providers require for employment. You will learn the Evaluation tools used by most of the agencies in the area if they are working with HUD contracts.
