Opportunity Summary 

As a student intern at Nation's Finest you will participate in conducting Initial Clinical Presentations (ICP's) and Mental Status Exams with clients to assess their mental health and make recommendations for mental health treatment. Following the Initial Clinical Presentation conduct weekly sessions with clients, if indicated utilizing evidenced-based modalities to assist your clients with meeting identified treatment goals. Group therapy is provided and interns are asked to identify an area of interest and work closely with Field Instructor to begin facilitating a weekly group for clients. Interns are responsible for conducting 90-Day Clinical Reviews to assess client’s progress on case management treatment goals as well as conduct audits of client files. Student interns participate in facilitating morning check-in and attend med-calls as assigned.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

MSW II Interns will learn how to conduct a solid clinical interview to include writing clinical level reports, how to use diagnostic tools to formulate a diagnosis utilize the DSM in identifying primary and differential diagnosis. Student interns learn how to apply theory and concepts to real life situations and acquire skills that will help build their identity as a social worker.

Opportunity Training 

Students work directly with Clinical Coordinator, who will oversee day to day client assignments and tasks. Field instructor will provide weekly supervision and training specific to utilizing evidenced-based modalities when working with clients, writing solid clinical progress notes and confidentiality, dual roles, boundaries and other items in the NASW code of ethics which are the foundation of the Social Work profession.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Student interns are expected to wear masks in all common areas and in all meetings with clients. Student interns who are not fully vaccinated are expected to provide a negative COVID test at the beginning of each work week.
