Opportunity Summary 

WEAVE is the primary local provider of services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking. An MSW Student Counselor provides short term therapeutic counseling with adult, teen and child survivors. WEAVE provides individual and group counseling, safety planning and crisis intervention. Our goal is to provide trauma-informed, inclusive, culturally responsive and client-centered counseling for trauma survivors. All counselors complete a comprehensive 69-hour training and receive weekly clinical supervision for support, ongoing learning and professional growth.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will have a deeper understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault; the short- and long-term impacts of trauma; how to provide short-term trauma-informed therapeutic counseling with individuals and in groups; a variety of therapeutic modalities; working within a diverse team of counselors and WEAVE employees; understanding the work of a non-profit community-based agency supporting survivors; and have an opportunity for continuous training and learning opportunities.
