Student will primarily perform psychosocial assessments and bereavement assessments. Student will also provide instruction, emotional support, community resources to patients and families coping with end of life issues.

Saving Our Legacy, African Americans for Smoke-Free Safe Places was founded in 2007 by Kimberly Bankston-Lee and Twlia Laster. The project name was derived by community advocates, Julius Bankston, Roxie Mason, Jolean French and Carol McGruder, who shared a collective vision for improving health among African Americans in Sacramento County.  The SOL Project currently serves 14 Northern California Gold Country Counties working with key opinion leaders, businesses, community members, educators, lawmakers and non-profits to adopt and implement smoke-free policies that protect people from the hazards of tobacco smoke and electronic smoking device vapor.

Sacramento City Unified School District is one of the oldest K-12 districts in the western United States (established in 1854). SCUSD serves 43,175 students on 75 campuses spanning 76 square miles.

SCUSD is home to a 2013 California Distinguished School (West Campus High School), the only public Waldorf-inspired high school in the nation (George Washington Carver) and the only Hmong language immersion program in the state (Susan B. Anthony Elementary School).

Alumni from SCUSD’s schools include U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, nationally renowned political scholar Dr. Cornel West and author Joan Didion. John Morse Therapeutic Center is a special education school serving specifically those students designated as having Emotional Disturbance.
