Opportunity Summary 

Position Description

The Community ARTS Intern will work closely with the Community ARTS Manager and Teaching Artists to support the planning, design and installation of community based public art projects. This may include creative placemaking, murals, mosaics and site beautification projects. ARTS is seeking interns who are comfortable working with youth (ages 8-18), community members, and partner organizations. We are looking for committed interns who can act as role models for ARTS youth. We advocate for potential applicants with artistic backgrounds (music, visual arts, media arts, literary arts, performance arts or others), but this quality is not a must. This position is an unpaid internship, but students may receive academic credit for their experience. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Support the development of Community ARTS project proposals
  • Support project planning and development
  • Join partner and client meetings
  • Assist with the logistics of Community ARTS projects and events 
  • Assist with administrative and financial tasks
  • Other related duties as assigned 
     

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

  • Develop/deepen relationships with community stakeholders, residents, and leaders in order to build personal connections and deliver social impact 
  • Increase skills and confidence networking with professionals in creative industries 
  • Gain experience in community organizing, non-profit management, working with youth, and special events planning and implementation
  • Gain experience in visual arts, digital media & design, and/or music & performing arts 

Desired Qualifications

  • Passion for the arts, arts education, creative skill building, community development, and/or other related areas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient in Google Drive (preferred)
  • Adaptable, works well in diverse work settings 
  • Excellent communication (written, oral, interpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, independent worker
  • Bilingual preferred

 

Hours per Week: 15-20
