Community Outreach InternAt — A Reason to Survive ARTS

Opportunity Summary 

Position Description

The Community Outreach Intern will work closely with the ARTS Executive Director to engage the National City/South Bay community in current and future programming at ARTS. This intern will assist the Executive Director in brainstorming new ideas for engaging the community, managing relationships with community partners, and coordinating communications across all community engagement efforts. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the ARTS Executive Director to develop strategies for better engaging community residents, organizations and other stakeholders in ARTS programming
  • Research and organize information on potential community partners 
  • Attend community events and represent the organization to local residents
  • Provide support for day to day communications activities with community partners
  • Assist with the logistics of community outreach events 
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Explore a career path in the creative fields, arts education, and community development
  • Receive on the job training for a variety of skills 
  • Network with professionals in creative industries, the local, non-profit sector, and with South Bay business owners
  • Develop/deepen relationships with community stakeholders, residents, and leaders 

Desired Qualifications

  • Passion for the arts, arts education, creative skill building, community development, and/or other related areas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Google Drive (preferred)
  • Adaptable, works well in diverse work settings 
  • Excellent communication (written, oral, interpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, independent worker
  • Bilingual preferred

 

Length of Position: One Semester

Hours per Week: 10-15
