Opportunity Summary
Position Description
The primary role of a Think Together Volunteer is to actively engage with students in academic activities, serve as a role model and mentor, and support the Program Leaders. Examples include:
- Working with students in small groups or 1:1 to improve reading and math proficiency skills.
- Being a positive role model both inside and outside the classroom.
- Perform administrative duties specified by the Site Coordinator.
- Maintain regular communication with Site Coordinator, Program Leaders, other volunteers, students, and parents as needed.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes
Volunteering just a few hours per week can make a tremendous difference in the lives of our students! Through 1:1 support and encouragement, volunteers promote social interaction and forge positive relationships among students and their peers.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of an online volunteer application
- Attendance at a volunteer orientation
- Ability to communicate in standard English appropriate for a public school setting
- Youth volunteers must have a completed parent consent form on file
- Adult volunteers must:
- provide a valid TB test
- adhere to fingerprinting and a background check
Length of position: Full school year
Hours per week: 20+
