Partner with CSU San Marcos

Thank you for your interest in partnering with California State Univeristy San Marcos. We look forward to exploring a potential partnership with your organization.

This form will initiate the process for us to learn more about your organization and the off-campus learning opportunities that you’d like to make available to students. Ideally, a representative of the organization who is familiar with the learning activities that university students will be engaged in, as well as your safety policies and procedures should complete this form.

Academic Internships

An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. An internship gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills. It offers the employer the opportunity to bring new ideas and energy into the workplace, develop talent and potentially build a pipeline for future full-time employees. A quality internship:

  • Consists of a part-time or full-time work schedule that includes no more than 20% clerical or administrative duties.
  • Provides a clear job/project description for the work experience.
  • Orients the student to the organization, its culture and proposed work assignment(s).
  • Helps the student develop and achieve learning goals.
  • Offers regular feedback to the student intern.
  • Paid or unpaid (see DOL guidelines)
  • Typical 3-unit internship requires students invest 90-120 hours during the semester

If offering paid opportunities, this form allows us to gather information to create your account and post your opportunity in our database.

If offering unpaid oppportunities, this form allows us to gather information to send you a partnership agreement prior to creating your account and posting your opportunity in our database.

Service Learning

Service learning is a teaching method that promotes student learning through active participation in meaningful and planned service experiences based on community needs that are substantively related to course content
