Opportunity Summary 

Position Description

The Healthy Development (HDS) Intern will support developmental and behavior service providers in their services with children and families including class set up and clean up, class support working directly with children and families, and case management and administrative tasks as needed. Services are provided on-site at the Rady Children's Developmental Services at various community locations in San Diego County. 

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

This position will provide the opportunity to collaborate closely with Developmental and Behavior Specialists, as well as licensed providers in the areas of Speech/Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. Interns will gain practical knowledge of typical and atypical early childhood development and behavior, and practical skills working with young children and their families. Interns will gain understanding of referral pathways and services for young children in San Diego County and practice with case management of family referrals.

Desired Qualifications

Successful qualifications include direct work with children birth through five years old and their families, as well as coursework focused on early childhood development, social work, education, or psychology.

 

Length of Position: One semester or longer

Hours per Week: 8-10 hours minimum
