Opportunity Summary 

In working with local non-profit organization, Lean and Green Kids, you will help create a healthier, greener, and kinder future through participating in and supporting direct education efforts for K-12 students. Our mission is to empower youth to choose healthier, planet-friendly plant-based meals.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Skills: public speaking, teaching, advocacy, creative writing, communication/interpersonal, collaborating, research and analysis, technical proficiency, outreach Knowledge about public health, school nutrition programs, environmental protection, industrial agriculture,  plant-based nutrition & cooking. Tasks/Activities: Virtual and live presentations to K-12 classes about healthy & environmentally friendly food choices. Researching, creating and collaborating on educational resources for students, teachers, & school food professionals Researching and creating teacher contact databases Local outreach events Cultivating relationships with educators, school food and public health professionals, and nonprofit professionals    Supporting staff in fundraising Social media support

Opportunity Training 

Interns will be trained for all activities (outreach, education, advocacy) prior to participating in these activities.
