Opportunity Summary

Program aides with MSKSI will assist the primary teacher/mentor with a number of duties. MSKSI staff responsibilities include group instruction and supervision, clarifying instructions, checking for learning, engaging students in discussion, and helping students with projects. To be effective, aides should be able to allow the lead mentor to stay on task by helping struggling students, and work well with the program's population. They should have attention to detail, excellent conflict resolution and communication skills, and show enthusiasm for the subject they support. Aides should also be able to give and receive instruction, as well as work independently. Although the programs aren't long – typically one to three hours after school – they provide great experience on your resume if you decide to become an educator.
