Opportunity Summary 

Students will have the opportunity to work with materials created by one of UURISE's partner organizations, Leap to Success, and collaborate with one another to translate a workbook that is used during a self-empowerment course for women who have been the victims of domestic violence, homelessness, and other major life challenges.

-The difference between direct translation and concept translation -Collaboration [How to work with a group to determine the best translation choices for the target audience]

Opportunity Training 

Students who are placed with UURISE as interns will receive virtual onboarding where they will learn about the history of UURISE, discuss our mission and vision, and the importance of understanding confidentiality and communicating as a team. To assist with the Special Translation Project, students will be given an introduction to the material, an overview of what the translation will be used for, and how the translation will be done.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

At the time, we anticipate that this project will remain primarily remote using the zoom platform for communication, etc.

Opportunity Application Instructions 

Apart from placing with UURISE through the CSUSM database, students who are interested in earning service-learning hours with our site through this project are required to complete UURISE's Volunteer/Intern Application (if they have yet to do so) and send over a copy of their most recent resume (if available). Once the application is received and reviewed, students will be contacted to set up a virtual interview.
