Pantry of HOPE InternshipAt — Operation HOPE-North County

Opportunity Summary 

The Pantry of HOPE was created in 2020 to provide residents who have graduated the Steps to Independence program with healthy food each week. The pantry provides families with fresh produce, canned goods, dairy, and protein as well as diapers, hygiene items, clothing, house hold items and access to additional resources as needed. This allows families to remain independent and stay connected to Operation HOPE-North County for long term success.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

This opportunity will allow students to connect with the community and graduates by supporting their weekly needs through the Pantry of HOPE. Students will have the opportunity to see how the pantry operates, collect data, provide support to staff and be creative.

Opportunity Training 

All Interns and service learning volunteers will receive a tour of the shelter, complete an orientation, receive hands on training in their respective areas. Students will meet on a regular basis with their supervisor to ask questions, go over goals and expectations, and discuss learning objectives.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

All staff, board of directors, volunteers and interns are required to sign in when arriving, have their temperature taken, wash hands upon arrival, and wear an approved mask at all times and follow any COVID-19 health and safety guidelines to include any vaccination requirements.
