Sustainable Food Project Volunteer or InternAt — CSUSM Sustainable Food Project

Opportunity Summary 

Come work in the Sustainable Food Project on the CSUSM campus, learn about urban agriculture, and helpful address food security on the CSUSM campus.

Will work with students to accommodate their academic internship hour requirement needs. 

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

To start a garden, plant food crops, make compost, apply compost, plant cover crops, and work in the greenhouse, among other tasks

Opportunity Training 

Training is usually hands-on. Some activities involve additional brief training sessions of 15 minutes or so.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

The Sustainable Food Project is a working urban farm that requires students willing to work outside, in the sun, sometimes in the rain. Temperatures are normally temperate but can get high at which point we stop farming. Cool morning temperatures are common. Close-toed shoes are required. Hats and sun-screen are recommended. Brief snake training is provided
