Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Intervention (NDBI) Internship ExperienceAt — In STEPPS
In STEPPS is an industry leader in providing Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Intervention (NDBI), an empirically validated intervention to address challenging behaviors and skills deficits associated with developmental delays and autism. In STEPPS uses play, the individual learner's motivation, and natural opportunities to work on skill development in a fun and positive manner. We hope you can join us in effecting powerful and positive change for our patients!
By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned about autism and other developmental disorders, Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Intervention as an empirically validated intervention, social skills facilitation and programming, direct intervention, group intervention, and collaboration to address patient needs.
Participants will receive training provided through our Learning Management System as well as in a small group through Zoom/Microsoft Teams or in person if national health permitting. The participants will also receive oversight and supervision periodically throughout their learning and internship opportunity as well. These trainings will cover safety, HIPAA/Confidentiality, Covid precautions, NDBIs, and ethics.
As previously indicated, we do serve some individuals who may engage in aggression towards others. Typically these individuals are between the ages of 4 and 11. We establish an appropriate environment to support the patient and others' safety and will provide training to individuals who may be in an environment with a patient who may have this behavior profile.
Students have the opportunity to obtain compensation for their internship if they are interested in becoming an employee, interview and are offered employment, satisfactorily complete our new hire training, and can commit to working a minimum of 15 hours per week during their employment.
