Intern Fitness Coach/Personal TrainerAt — Escondido Boot Camp

Opportunity Summary 

Fitness Coach/Personal Trainer internship opportunity in a high energy, fin-filled, engaging environment with real word skills in the fitness industry. Intern routinely shadows coaches/personal trainers during group training and/or personal training, observes evaluations, observes/participates in group exercise classes, and participates in special events/programs/fitness challenges. Intern will get hands on experience leading classes under supervision from experienced Coaches/Trainers. Intern will be responsible for creating one fitness related comprehensive project, training, program, TBD based on student's own personal interest and school's educational requirements. Project opportunities include:member case study (with permissions/confidentiality), developing training for team members on new and emerging research in kinesiology or exercise science, physiology, injury, etc., developing and implementing a fitness challenge, creating a new member on-boarding plan, or writing and presenting to staff or members on fitness/health related topics.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, intern will have hands on experience in the fitness industry. They will have experience with group fitness, personal training and fitness programming. Interns will gain working knowledge regarding nutrition, weight loss ,and muscle building. Interns will learn about specific muscle groups and exercises, Interns will also learn about small business, client engagement and relationship building and some marketing techniques. Interns will be able to use this experience to help guide them in their professional journey.

Opportunity Training 

Orientation to business and activities: 1-2 hours Safety orientation:1-2 hrs Shadow personal trainers/coaches: 2-4 weeks Attend weekly supervision: 1 hr/week Attend team meetings:1-2 month 1-2 hrs.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Individual must be able to lift 45-50 lbs. Individual must be willing to follow proper procedures and form regarding any exercises. Individual must be able to work in environment with loud music and directly with people. Individual must be physically able to participate in bootcamp workouts and physical activities.

Intern must be able to attend EARLY mornings, or afternoons (after 4:30 p.m.) and possibly some Saturdays.
