Opportunity Summary

The school cares for the whole child, expands learning horizons, builds family relationships, and works together to realize a shared vision. Mission Elementary School partners with stakeholders to create the conditions students need to thrive. You’ll have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of young students and their families while gaining valuable experience and developing important skills. Join us for ten weeks and be part of a community of learners dedicated to making a difference! Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

The importance of building connections within a school site and establishing positive relationships with students and families of diverse backgrounds A variety of skill sets that include planning, organizing, facilitating, and evaluating structured activities with students The impact of the Community School Model within a school system

Opportunity Training 

60 minute Orientation On-going training support as needed

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Service Learning Students will learn proper school safety and ethic procedures during orientation This can include: Community School Model Social media policy Checking in/ out at office Lockdown/ emergency procedures Child development and appropriate interactions And more

Opportunity Application Instructions 

Confirm interest for placement with Community School Coordinator at the respective school site via email (with included resume) at the beginning of the school semester. Community School Coordinator will conduct an over the phone interview with students to confirm experience and goals from participating in service learning opportunity. Service Learning Students are encouraged to email Community School Coordinator as soon as possible as positions fill quickly.
