This venture not only equips students with invaluable real-world experience but also extends a helping hand to organizations striving to make a difference. By bridging academic learning with practical application, CSUSM is pioneering an experiential learning program that holds promise for future scalability and self-sustainability. The selected student will be integral to an interdisciplinary team of 5-6 peers, each bringing unique skills from fields like marketing, communications, and design. Together, they will manage a dynamic client portfolio, ensuring that each organization's message is effectively and innovatively communicated to its target audience. This is more than just an internship; it's a chance to shape the future of marketing while making a tangible impact in the community.
Learning Outcomes: 1) Be able to create visual assets that align with the client's brand identity and message. This includes understanding the client's target audience, their values, and their goals. 2) Work effectively with a team to create high-quality designs. This includes communicating effectively, collaborating on projects, and giving and receiving feedback. 3) Stay updated with the latest design trends and tools. This includes being aware of new design software and techniques and being able to apply them to your work. 4) Meet the needs of clients and stakeholders. This includes understanding the client's needs and objectives and being able to deliver designs that meet their expectations. 5) Apply the ethical principles of design. This includes protecting intellectual property, avoiding discrimination, and being mindful of the environmental impact of design. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of 5-6 students majoring in marketing, communications, and arts, media, and design to understand client needs and objectives. - Responsible for creating logos, brochures, digital ads, and other visual materials that align with the client's brand identity. - Collaborate with the content creator and videographer/photographer to ensure visual consistency across all materials. - Design visual assets such as logos, brochures, digital ads, and other promotional materials. - Ensure all designs align with the client's brand identity and message. - Revise and refine designs based on client feedback and team collaboration. - Stay updated with the latest design trends and tools to ensure the agency's offerings remain current. - Attend weekly meetings with the faculty supervisor to discuss design progress, challenges, and strategies. - Participate in regular reporting meetings with clients at the Innovation Hub to present design drafts and gather feedback.
