Opportunity Summary 

We need students to mentor Latina teen girls in the schools in Carlsbad; the middle schoolers meet after school once a week and the high schoolers meet during lunch once a week. The student can choose to work at one school or two. No preparation is needed to assist with the lessons. This is an excellent opportunity for students going into a career working with the community. The student doesn't need to be bilingual, but being bicultural is needed and identifying as a Latina.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

• How to relate to teen girls and motivate them • More about their cultural heritage • They will be exposed to biographies of Latinas who have been successful in a variety of careers • How to guide teens to a successful career • More about how the female brain works and how to overcome 'overthinking' • More about healthy vs unhealthy relationships • More about dealing with anxiety in a healthy way

Opportunity Training 

An orientation will be provided and copies of the lessons for the girls
