Production Interns to assist with ACMA's Social Media, Documentary TV Series and Films!At — Asian Culture and Media Alliance

Opportunity Summary 

Asian Culture and Media Alliance or ACMA is seeking passionate, curious, and highly motivated individuals to join our team as digital marketing, production and editing interns who can work in a fast-paced, fun, and rewarding work environment involving our media programs, namely the Asian Pacific Voices TV & Radio podcast, TAKE ONE vocational youth media arts film projects, and live events

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Are you an aspiring content creator or video editor looking to work part/full-time in the TV/Film industry? If so, this is the right opportunity for you! We provide internships in the following three categories throughout the year:

Spring internship: • 1-1 Zoom interview: January 8 - 12, 2024 • Internship start: January 15 - May 15, 2024

Summer internship: • 1-1 Zoom interview: May 1 - 10, 2024 • Internship start: May 13 - September 13, 2024

Fall internship: • 1-1 Zoom interview: August 12 - 16, 2024 • Internship start: September 1 - December 20, 2024

Duration of internship: Minimum of 4 months Part-time paid opportunity may be offered upon completion of internship to qualified students

1. Digital Marketing Internship

A Digital Marketing Intern works closely with ACMA’s Executive Director and Digital Marketing Coordinator to create content for websites, newsletters, press releases, and social media. Primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Working autonomously and with the Executive Director and Digital Marketing Team.
  • Manage and update the online calendar (CALENDLY/Outlook or Google Calendar)
  • Copywriting and proof-reading content for websites, newsletters, social media, and marketing collateral In this role, your job duties include:
  • Some experience in research, writing, and/or editing for film, TV, or digital news outlets would be desired, but it’s not a deal breaker (college newspapers & websites count)
  • Self-starter and team player with excellent communication skills is a plus (both writing and verbal)
  • Multi-tasker with a passion for writing as well as finding new and exciting stories would be amazing
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Have a basic working knowledge of work processing software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Canva, Constant Contact etc.
  • Be organized and detail oriented
  • Be able to work quickly and effectively under deadlines
  • Be a good communicator and listener!
  • Be flexible and reliable!
  • Willing to learn new things!

  • This is a virtual position, and would require access to a computer/laptop.

2. Production Intern

A production intern works closely with the Producers, Creative Director, and Assistant Directors on film and television sets, assisting them with a TV, Radio or film production. This position allows one to gain insight and experience working in a fast-paced, demanding production environment, often with tight shooting schedules and production deadlines. Especially during production, the hours may also be extended, and you may be required to be on set for the duration of the scheduled production day(s). This position fosters job skill development that often leads to higher-level positions in production, depending on one’s aptitudes and interests. Your assignments may vary, but the main program you will be involved with is our Asian Pacific Voices television program, as well as ACMA short film projects. Other community partners-based work might also apply.

  •  Administrative duties such as printing and distributing scripts and call sheets
  • •Researching, copywriting, outreaching, and coordinating shoot schedules for Asian Pacific Voices TV and Radio
  • Have basic working knowledge of film/TV set protocols, radio comms & safety best practices
  • Communicating and relaying messages between crew members and the talent
  • Assist the Producers and Directors with (un)loading and carrying 15-50 lb production gear from the vehicle to on-location shoots, including setting up production equipment for shoots (In-person training will be provided beforehand)

3. Video Editing Internship

Position Description: Video editing interns help the primary editors on post-production projects for film or television. They also support positions that complete the preparation and administrative tasks necessary for editing, but they may also edit some portions of a project, often creating an assembly or rough cut for the chief editor. Many video editing interns aspire to become a primary editor and use this position to gain experience in the field. Depending on your aptitude, knowledge, skills, and expertise, we can offer you paid opportunities as an editor and be responsible for the overall editing of projects upon completion of the internship! Your assignments may vary, but the main program you will be involved with is our Asian Voices television program, as well assist on short films and digital marketing projects. In this role at ACMA, your job duties may include the following: • Have basic working knowledge and experience using popular NLE editing systems, including Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Apple Final Cut X and DaVinci Resolve

• Have a basic working knowledge of editing workflows, edit types and best practices in order to achieve broadcast level results Knowledge and/or experience of the following desired but not mandatoryl:

  • Organizing, archiving (backing up) original media files onto servers
  • Knowledge of Codecs, transcoding, importing, and logging media files in an NLE (Non-Liner Editor) structure
  • Some knowledge of EDL exporting (XML files) and project sharing methods
  • Good working knowledge of audio post production
  • Any experience with 2D or 3D motion graphics is a plus (After Effects, Apple Motion, Cinema 4D, Maya) For the three internship opportunities, it is essential to note that the candidates are willing to:

As an intern, you'll have the chance to learn from industry experts, and gain insights into industry trends, best practices, and career advice.

Opportunity Training 

A minimum of 2 weeks of training (10-15 hours) will be provided to students to perform the above responsibilities for digital marketing, production, and editing internships.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

For production interns, students must load/unload/carry production equipments (10 - 50 pounds) and help set them up on-site.
