Student TeacherAt — The Classical Academy
The Classical Academies is an organization of award-winning, tuition-free California Public Charter Schools serving North San Diego County since 1999. With over 5,300 students in grades TK-12, our schools make a tremendous impact as they reinvent public education. Each campus offers a flexible, personalized educational environment that blends the best of independent study and the traditional classroom experience. These hybrid programs encourage students to explore their interests, accommodate their learning styles, and reach their maximum potential by becoming Thinkers, Communicators, and Achievers. In addition to rigorous academics, small class sizes, and an acclaimed character education program, students are invited to participate in various extracurricular activities and clubs, such as musical theater, choir, robotics, art, sports, and more.
Applicants gain practical hands-on experience in a classroom setting under the supervision of a cooperating teacher. They observe teaching methods, assist with classroom tasks, plan and deliver lessons, reflect on their practice, participate in professional development, assess student learning, build relationships with students and stakeholders, and maintain professionalism throughout the experience. This hands-on training equips student teachers with the skills and confidence needed to become effective educators.
There will be support and mentoring from a participating teacher. The candidate may participate in applicable professional learning activities that take place during their time with the organization.
