CIRM InternAt — CIRM: Thermo Fisher Scientific
Must be enrolled in BIOT 498 and a participant in the CIRM: Bridges to Stem Cell Research Program
This Internship opportunity will allow the CIRM intern to participate in cutting-edge research in a state-of-the-art research lab in Cell Therapy. Opportunities to network with cross-functional teams across other scientific areas, such as molecular biology and viral vector production.
The internship project will use primary culture techniques in combination with advanced processing and analytics related to cell therapy. The intern will learn hard technical skills used in the lab (cell processing, characterization, non-viral and viral gene editing) and soft skills such as poster and PowerPoint scientific presentations.
Students will receive upfront training on all appropriate processes related to the project by watching the process and performing under supervision. This will range based on the intern's skill level from general cell culture to running flow cytometry or ddPCR, etc. Regardless of the project, the students will have access to multiple scientists at different levels of their careers to interact and learn from, as well as get to use state-of-the-art cell processing and engineering equipment and technologies.
Student will be working in BSL2 lab environment and will be trained in hazardous materials such as blood born pathogen material handling, processing, and disposal.
Participate in CIRM mixer event to hear more about opportunities being offered, and then email TFS representative for on-site interview with team.
