Youth MentorAt — Higher Ground Youth and Family Services

Opportunity Summary

These interns will assist our youth, grades two through six, with various activities that form part of our comprehensive program. These include sports such as soccer, baseball, and volleyball, as well as arts and crafts, homework help and tutoring, video production, cooking, and performing arts. At the heart of our program is mentorship, where our youth benefit from strong, positive role models who promote educational success, strong interpersonal skills, and a sense of empowerment through diverse activities. We maintain a 4:1 child-to-mentor ratio to ensure close, meaningful interactions. In addition to play-based engagement, college students working at our site share their experiences on the importance of graduating high school and pursuing higher education. Through this interaction, our youth learn that their voices matter. This motivates them to find their own unique path in life, inspiring them to pursue their goals and unlock their potential.
