NLRC InternAt — National Latino Research Center
The NLRC Internship Program creates a bridge between the university and the local community and increases the engagement of underrepresented and first-generation college students in social science research. NLRC offers students hands-on training in applied participatory action research and culturally/linguistically responsive approaches to work collaboratively with Latinx and immigrant communities in the U.S.-Mexico border region.
Interns working with NLRC’s researchers assist in qualitative and quantitative research activities including data collection (surveys, interviews, focus groups), data entry, preliminary data analysis, literature reviews, annotated bibliographies, etc. Additionally, interns assist in project-related activities such as note-taking and writing meeting minutes, preparing reports, coordinating events/workshops logistics, developing community-based teaching materials, creating social media content to disseminate research findings, etc.
Student who are selected as NLRC Interns will participate in a two-week orientation and training period. Interns receive training on ethics in research and IRB certification, research methods, cultural and linguistic responsiveness.
Interested students are encouraged to complete the NLRC Interest Form available on the NLRC's website. A follow-up e-mail will be sent with further instructions to submit an application packet.
