Research AssistantAt — SPARCC Lab (Supporting Practices for Autism through Research and Community Collaboration)

Opportunity Summary 

Research Assistants are key members of our research team conducting research aimed to improving community-based services and supports for individuals with autism and their families. As a research assistant, you will gain independent research skills as an active member of the research team involving learning about aspects of autism intervention research, implementation science, and working with human research participants. Achievement of your learning goals is supervised, and mentored research experiences that vary depending on lab project needs, individual interests and strengths, and timing/scheduling. Core activities include attendance and active participation in lab meetings, as well as active participation and assistance with research activities under supervision, including literature reviews, study development, participant recruitment and enrollment, data collection and data entry, behavioral coding, community outreach and engagement, and other related tasks.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

1. Gain human subjects research experience with specialized populations 2. Develop advanced knowledge about autism intervention and implementation science research 3. Develop competency in various aspects of the research process (e.g., study development, community outreach and engagement, participant recruitment and enrollment, data collection and data entry, behavioral coding, data analyses) 4. Strengthen oral and written communication skills, task management proficiency, teamwork and collaboration skills, and professional skills that are translatable to a range of careers or graduate school

Opportunity Training 

Initial and ongoing training is provided to perform relevant responsibilities. Research assistants are supervised in their work.
