Community School Pantry VolunteerAt — Feeding San Diego
Our school pantry program at Feeding San Diego services all neighbors and community members (open to public) on a twice-a-month basis. The Lincoln Middle School Pantry occurs on every second and fourth Wednesday of the month in the viewer's left parking lot of the school. Volunteers will be tasked with setting up the distribution (i.e. tables, canopy, putting out food on tables). During the distribution (~1 hour), they will connect with neighbors and pass out dry goods and produce to those who come through. The distribution is a farmer's market style, and servings per household will be given. Volunteers will clean up the sight and connect with supervisor to put away supplies.
Volunteers will learn how to carry out a volunteer-led distribution coordinated by Feeding San Diego at a local school (serving 200 households at each distribution). Volunteer training by FSD staff will include food safety tips/techniques and how to carry out a proper School Pantry distribution. This is also a great opportunity to connect with the Oceanside community and make connection with our local neighbors/families!
Food safety training by Feeding San Diego staff member, oversight by a Lincoln Middle School staff member, student volunteers will have the autonomy and responsibility of running the School Pantry distribution (with support if needed)
Supplies will be provided by Feeding San Diego staff member for food safety (i.e. gloves, box cutter, tally counter, sanitizer wipes) and volunteers will be trained on all safety procedures.
