Nonprofit InternAt — God's Heart Ministry
Interns will have the opportunity to learn how a nonprofit runs, from signing clients in for services, answering the phone, filing paperwork at the courthouse, and going to court with a client if they desire someone to accompany them to court. The intern will also have the opportunity to attend community resource fairs and business networking meetings. The intern will have the opportunity to meet both community members and the business community with opportunities for future employment.
By the end of the term, interns will understand what it takes to keep a nonprofit running, from marketing to networking to interacting with the community. Interns will learn about family law issues that impact our clients, as well as immigration issues that impact the immigrant community and how both family law and immigration impact those leaving an abusive relationship.
All training will be "on the job training." We will teach the intern how to interact with the community by helping them understand the needs of the community and how to speak with them. The intern will also learn the art of networking with the business community so they learn how to network and possibly secure future employment. We will also teach the intern how to file legal documents at the court and how to fill out simple documents a client may need.
The intern will be advised not to give out the address of the office to anyone. Because we work with abused women, we don't want an abusive partner to show up at our office
The intern will need to email me their interest in interning at my nonprofit. They must include their phone number so I can set up a call with them. They will have a brief in-person interview with me, then they can begin their internship.
