Opportunity Summary

The Engineer Intern at Shift Industry will support the development of our Dealer Management System (DMS), a platform used by dealerships to manage operations like scheduling, inventory, and customer interactions. Interns will work with modern technologies such as C#, Angular, and SQL, contributing to both frontend and backend features. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, participate in code reviews, and help solve real-world problems that impact our users. This role offers practical experience in full-stack development and exposure to software development best practices in a fast-moving, small business environment. Ideal candidates are curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, students will gain hands-on experience in full-stack software development, including building and debugging real-world applications using C#, .NET, Angular, TypeScript, and SQL. Interns will develop a strong understanding of API design, database modeling, and component-based UI development. They'll also learn best practices in version control (Git), Agile development workflows, and technical documentation. Through direct mentorship and participation in team code reviews, students will strengthen their problem-solving skills, improve code quality, and gain insight into scalable, maintainable software architecture. Exposure to real customer requirements and business logic will deepen their ability to think critically and communicate effectively in a professional software engineering environment.

Opportunity Training

Students will receive onboarding and training during their first two weeks, including codebase orientation, development workflow, task management, and version control using Git. Ongoing mentorship will be provided by senior developers through regular check-ins, code reviews, and collaborative project work. Interns will also have access to documentation, sample projects, and internal tools to support their learning. Additionally, students may observe or assist with customer support and product training sessions to better understand user needs and how software improvements translate to real-world impact. No interaction with minors or vulnerable populations is expected, so Mandated Reporter training is not required.
