Opportunity Summary 

Intern will work with our high school athletics program, where they will observe team environments, participate in daily activities, and assist with ice breakers and social interactions that support team bonding. While they will not act in a sport psychology role, she will gain valuable experience by noticing team dynamics, communication patterns, and social norms. This opportunity supports their academic program by providing real-world insight into the psychological and social aspects of athletic communities.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of the internship, students may acquire skills in observing and analyzing group dynamics, communication styles, and social norms within athletic environments. They will gain experience supporting team-building activities, developing rapport with diverse student-athletes, and understanding the structure and culture of high school sports programs. Interns will also strengthen their interpersonal communication, professionalism in educational settings, and ability to contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture. This opportunity offers meaningful insight into the social and psychological aspects of athletics, valuable for careers in education, coaching, or sport-related fields.

Opportunity Training 

Interns will receive a site orientation and overview of school policies, professional expectations, and athletic program structure. Training includes a review of appropriate conduct around minors, confidentiality, and communication protocols. They will also be introduced to staff roles, team schedules, and ice-breaker facilitation techniques. Mandated Reporter training will be required and can be completed online prior to or during the first week of the internship. Total training time will be approximately 3–4 hours, with ongoing guidance and supervision provided throughout the internship.
