Opportunity Summary 

The Printmaking Studio Student Assistant supports the daily operations of the printmaking studio and assists with teaching and learning activities. This position is ideal for an advanced student in the visual arts who is passionate about printmaking, studio safety, and art education. The assistant will work closely with the professor to prepare materials, maintain equipment, and support student learning through one-on-one guidance and occasional instructional opportunities.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Assist the professor with class demonstrations, critiques, and instruction Prepare course materials including paper tearing, inking stations, plate preparation, and setting up for demons Maintain a clean and organized studio space, including cleaning presses, sinks, and work surfaces Monitor studio use during open lab hours, ensuring safety protocols are followed Provide one-on-one assistance to students during class and open studio hours Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and assist with minor repairs or maintenance Participate in opportunities to lead demonstrations or small group instruction under supervision Help inventory and order supplies as needed Support end of the semester cleanup and studio shutdown procedures

Opportunity Training 

Enrolled student in AMD Completed AMD 304 Strong knowledge in Printmaking Comfortable working with tools and equipment Reliable, detail oriented and self motivated Interest in teaching and mentoring peers Good communication and organizational skills

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Student will work with Printmaking equipment and in the shop
