FYUP First-Year Seminar Council - Student RepresentativeAt — CSUSM - Office of Undergraduate Studies, First-Year & University Programs
The purpose of this internship is to ensure and increase student voices in decision making with regards to FYUP's First-Year Seminar. Through this internship, students/internees will have the opportunity to represent their peers on the FYS Council and thereby make recommendations that honor students’ lived experiences on campus and in our FYS classrooms. The hours can be increased up to 3 hours per week as this is a 1-unit internship.
Internee(s) will gain experience representing the interests of “constituents” b. Internee(s) will gain experience with resource collection and “database” maintenance. Additionally, Internee(s) will gain experience in hospitality, meeting planning
Students will work closely with the Director of First-Year Programs and key FYS Council members, or faculty members connected to or supporting FYS Council projects to prepare for and attend monthly FYS Council meetings, maintain and promote a shared resource of campus events relevant to the first-year experience, create/administer UNIV 101 student survey, and plan for/attend/present findings at end of semester FYUP Faculty Community Meeting.
