Opportunity Summary 

Marketplace Fellows support the daily operations of the onsite food pantry at Feeding San Diego

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Marketplace Volunteer will assist the Direct Service Department with performing essential tasks to support the operation of the Feeding San Diego Marketplace. This will include: · Provide an excellent shopping experience for everyone who shops at the Marketplace · Verify Marketplace orders based on invoices · Stock items in store and overflow area, as needed · Utilize order management software to make orders, create profiles, stock inventory, etc. · Communicate with staff members regarding order specifics, as needed · Ensure safety and food safety procedures are met or exceeded at all times · Complete and record daily cleaning tasks

Opportunity Training 

Electric Pallet Jack Training, Food Handler's Certification, and Food Rescue Training.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students will be required to stand for long periods of time, lift heavy items (<50 pounds), work around rotten/moldy food (not suitable for those with sensitive immune systems).
