Opportunity Summary 

An internship at Corramedical provides hands-on experience in a clinical genomic testing environment, supporting innovative work in precision medicine. Interns will gain exposure to key laboratory practices such as sample handling and processing, DNA/RNA extraction, and preparation for sequencing workflows. Responsibilities may also include data entry into laboratory systems, quality control support, maintaining lab inventory, and assisting with general laboratory upkeep. Interns will have the opportunity to shadow experienced scientists, learn about next-generation sequencing (NGS) applications, and observe how clinical genomic data contributes to patient care.

Opportunity Training 

Laboratory Safety & Compliance – Introduction to biosafety procedures, proper handling of clinical specimens, and regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA/CAP guidelines). Sample Handling & Processing – Step-by-step training on accessioning, labeling, and preparing samples for downstream genomic analysis. Molecular Techniques – Guidance in basic DNA/RNA extraction, preparation for sequencing workflows, and quality control procedures. Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) – Instruction on accurate data entry, documentation, and recordkeeping. Instrumentation & Equipment – Overview of commonly used molecular biology instruments, with supervised practice in calibration, operation, and maintenance. Quality Assurance & Good Laboratory Practices – Training in lab organization, reagent preparation, contamination prevention, and adherence to standard operating procedures. Professional Development – Shadowing senior scientists, attending team discussions, and learning about the role of clinical genomics in precision medicine.
