Elementary Orchestra Student TeacherAt — Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary School - PTA
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Student Teacher to assist in the instruction of an Elementary Orchestra program at Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary School. This role provides an excellent opportunity for aspiring music educators to earn college credits, gain hands-on teaching experience, mentor young musicians, and support the overall success of the orchestra.
Music Education Methods: Gaining hands-on experience in leading rehearsals, sectionals, and group lessons while supporting young musicians at varying skill levels. Instrumental Pedagogy: Strengthening the ability to teach fundamental techniques, note reading, and ensemble playing across a range of instruments (strings, guitar, trumpet, guitarrón, vihuela). Classroom & Rehearsal Management: Developing strategies to maintain a positive, focused, and productive learning environment. Performance Preparation: Learning the logistics of preparing students for concerts, including organizing rehearsals, stage setup, and performance coordination. Mentorship & Leadership: Building confidence in guiding students individually and in groups, offering encouragement, and fostering enthusiasm for music. Collaboration & Communication: Enhancing skills in working alongside experienced music educators, coordinating with peers, and engaging effectively with students. Professional Growth: Earning college credit while gaining practical teaching experience that supports future careers in music education.
There will be onboarding training for 2 hours before the semester begins. Student will do mandated reporter training, TB test, and fingerprinting through district https://www.smusd.org/144243_3
Student will be required to lift music stands and musical instruments
