This internship provides hands-on experience in exercise science, human movement, and client coaching. Interns assist with fitness assessments, body composition testing, mobility screenings, and exercise programming. Under supervision, they help design warm-ups, strength sessions, and corrective exercise plans based on client needs. Responsibilities include monitoring technique, ensuring safety, guiding proper form, and supporting small-group or one-on-one training sessions. Interns also learn to create individualized programs, track client progress, and communicate effectively with diverse populations. Additional duties may include equipment setup, maintaining a clean training environment, and observing clinical applications such as post-rehab exercise or movement analysis. This internship builds practical skills, professional confidence, and real-world experience in kinesiology and personal training.
Interns gain a strong foundation in human movement, exercise science, and practical coaching. They develop skills in assessing posture, mobility, strength, and cardiovascular fitness. Interns learn to design effective warm-ups, strength programs, and conditioning workouts tailored to individual needs. They practice cueing, correcting form, and modifying exercises for safety and performance. Knowledge areas include biomechanics, basic anatomy, injury-prevention strategies, and program periodization. Interns also build communication skills, professionalism, and client rapport. They learn to track progress, interpret assessment data, and adjust training plans based on goals. Additionally, they develop problem-solving skills, time management, and the ability to work in fast-paced fitness or clinical environments. This experience prepares interns to confidently support personal training, rehabilitation, and performance settings.
1. Conducting fitness assessments (posture, mobility, strength, cardiovascular tests). 2. Designing individualized training programs based on client goals and assessment data. 3. Cueing and correcting exercise technique to ensure safety and effectiveness. 4. Implementing warm-ups, strength sessions, and conditioning workouts for individuals and small groups. 5. Applying basic biomechanics and anatomy to analyze and improve movement patterns. 6. Modifying exercises for injuries, limitations, or performance needs. 7. Tracking and documenting client progress using measurable data. 8. Communicating effectively with clients to build rapport and promote adherence. 9. Maintaining a clean and safe training environment, including equipment setup. 10. Observing and assisting with post-rehabilitation exercise plans under supervision.
1. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (25–50 lbs), such as weights, kettlebells, and mats. 2. Standing and moving for extended periods during training sessions. 3. Demonstrating exercises safely, including squatting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and mobility drills. 4. Maintaining awareness of surroundings to prevent accidents during busy sessions. 5. Following proper hygiene and safety protocols, including equipment cleaning and safe spotting techniques.
