Opportunity Summary

Here is an improved version of your Opportunity Summary for the web page. It uses more professional, action-oriented language to clearly define the intern's role while maintaining the heart of the School on Wheels mission. Improved Opportunity Summary "Join us in bridging the educational gap for students experiencing homelessness across Southern California. As an Intern/Tutor Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting our tutors and mentors who provide essential one-on-one weekly tutoring and school supplies to students living in shelters, vehicles, and on the streets. Using a trauma-informed education framework, you will help K-12 students stay engaged in school and reach their full academic potential. Additionally, you will gain experience in community outreach by assisting with partnership meetings to expand our network, ultimately helping us provide more comprehensive services to the 1 in 20 children in California currently lacking a stable home.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

By the end of this internship, you will have gained hands-on experience in trauma-informed education through one-on-one mentorship with students from diverse backgrounds. You will also develop high-level administrative and networking skills by interacting with referring partners in a professional setting, executing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and actively building and maintaining strategic community partnerships. This role provides a unique opportunity to bridge educational gaps while mastering professional relationship management

Opportunity Training

Interns will begin with our comprehensive initial volunteer training, followed by personalized one-on-one sessions focused on navigating our online platforms. Additionally, I will provide specialized coaching for all supplemental responsibilities, including professional communication for partner meetings and techniques for effective public speaking and presentations. This multi-layered training ensures you are fully equipped to represent School on Wheels and support our students effectively

Opportunity Application Instructions

The application process is designed to be straightforward and focused on student safety. To apply, candidates will need to complete the following: Online Volunteer Application: A brief form including a request for two character references. Comprehensive Training: Participation in an online orientation and a live introductory tutor training session.
