PT/OT Volunteer InternAt — Dynamic Abilities Pediatric Therapy: Occupational and Physical Therapy, Inc.
Volunteers at DAP Therapy support a woman-owned, small business pediatric physical and occupational therapy clinic serving children from birth through 18 years old. The clinic uses a dynamic, evidence-based therapy approach that adapts to each child’s developmental needs while supporting the whole child and their family. Volunteers assist therapists with session preparation, organization of therapy spaces, engagement in age-appropriate activities, and general clinic support. This opportunity provides meaningful, hands-on exposure to pediatric physical and occupational therapy in a fun, interactive, and family-centered environment. This role is ideal for students and individuals interested in pediatric healthcare, physical therapy, occupational therapy, child development, or related fields who are seeking clinical observation experience while making a positive impact on children and families in their community.

Students will complete an initial orientation and on-site training before beginning volunteer activities. Training includes clinic policies and procedures, safety and infection control guidelines, and appropriate interactions with children and families. Volunteers receive task-specific instruction and ongoing guidance from licensed physical and occupational therapists. Because volunteers work with minors in a pediatric setting, Mandated Reporter training is required. Information on completing this training will be provided prior to or at the start of the placement. Ongoing supervision and support ensure student safety, success, and professional conduct at all times.
Volunteers may assist with light physical tasks such as organizing therapy equipment or moving supplies. Volunteers are not required to lift heavy items; staff support is provided for any tasks beyond safe lifting limits. Students will receive instruction on proper lifting techniques and are encouraged to request assistance as needed. Volunteers must follow all clinic safety guidelines, including infection control practices, appropriate footwear, and awareness in active therapy spaces. All volunteer activities are supervised to ensure the safety of both students and children.
