Opportunity Summary

Exposure Skate is looking for volunteers to help in our storage unit organization project, as well as volunteers for our spring learn-to-skate clinics! If you think of yourself as a highly organized, detail oriented, people person, than you are a great fit for volunteering at our organization. Our storage organization project will allow us to use our space better, and to identify our areas of need in terms of product that we sell as well as products that we donate and raffle off. Volunteering at Skate Rising allows us to bring more young people into the community, opening layers of opportunity for inclusion and community engagement through skateboarding.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

Volunteers at Skate Rising will learn merchandising skills when setting up the merch and raffle tables, community outreach and communication when connecting with program participants, parents, and other volunteers, and team work as they will be part of a team of about 20 volunteers. Volunteers participating in the storage unit organization project will learn inventory and organizational skills through helping to inventory and organize our merchandise and other storage unit contents, they will also be able to build their teamwork skills as we will be working as a team throughout the project.

Opportunity Training

For volunteers participating in our Skate Rising program, they will be trained in the roles they will serve in, such as merchandise booth support and registration booth support. They will be trained in verbiage to use when communicating with parents versus children. All volunteers will meet with the supervisor to discuss responsibilities, Exposure's code of conduct, and the events/projects they will be supporting.

Opportunity Application Instructions

Students may reach out to me through email (support@exposureskate.org), and then we will find a time for a meeting where we can discuss their past work/volunteer experiences, their goals, their interests, and their skills. This introductory meeting/soft interview will allow me to place them with opportunities that align with them.
