Opportunity Summary 

Students will assist in our Equestrian Volunteer Program. Students will interact with children and adults with and without disabilities. Students have the opportunity to learn more about how to groom horses, side walk and lead horses during a horseback riding lesson to support the riders and instructors, basic horse care, and barn chores. Students will volunteer alongside other academic interns, volunteers, horseback riding instructors, support staff, and program participants.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will gain exposure to children and adults with special needs, horses, and Equine Assisted Services including therapeutic horseback riding.

Opportunity Training 

Students must attend an Equestrian Volunteer Orientation before they start volunteering.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students must be able to walk on non-paved, uneven dirt or soft sand. Students must be able to volunteer outside.
