Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will have the opportunity to interact with clients and staff and to understand both administrative and clinical tasks associated with care populations. They will likely assist with onboarding new clients, conducting client observation rounds, and supporting group therapy to the extent that is clinically fit. This may include sitting in on groups, supporting clinicians in planning group topics, and supporting in documentation during groups.

Opportunity Training 

An orientation will be held before the start of the internship to help students learn how to perform these tasks. A mandated reporter and HIPAA compliance training will also be provided.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students may interface with clients experiencing acute mental health symptoms which can pose some level of risk. With that said, CHC does its best to maintain safety of all staff and clients, and several other staff members are always present on site including many points of contact during a mental health emergency. CHC also has a rigorous client screening process to ensure these clients are not acute.
