The Program and Curriculum Intern supports the development, organization, and implementation of youth programs and educational activities. This role collaborates closely with program leadership to design engaging, age-appropriate curriculum, activity plans, and enrichment opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and goals. The intern assists with researching creative ideas, preparing materials, organizing schedules, and evaluating program outcomes to ensure activities are meaningful, fun, and impactful for participants. This position is ideal for someone who is creative, organized, and passionate about youth development, education, recreation, or nonprofit programming. The intern may also assist in adapting lesson plans to meet diverse needs, supporting special events, gathering participant feedback, and contributing innovative ideas. The Program and Curriculum Intern may also help adapt lesson plans, support special events, gather feedback, and contribute fresh ideas that enhance the overall program experience for youth and families. Key Responsibilities: Assist in creating and organizing curriculum, lesson plans, and activity guides Research age-appropriate program ideas, themes, and enrichment activities Prepare supplies and materials needed for program implementation Support staff with planning and carrying out daily or weekly activities Help evaluate program effectiveness and suggest improvements Maintain organized records, calendars, and curriculum files Contribute creative ideas for seasonal programs, events, and special projects Preferred Skills: Strong organization and attention to detail Creativity and enthusiasm for working with youth Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with a team Interest in education, child development, recreation, or nonprofit work
The Program and Curriculum Intern will receive a comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training experience designed to support their success throughout the internship. Initial training will include a 1–2 day orientation covering program goals, curriculum standards, youth development best practices, safety procedures, and expectations for lesson planning and activity implementation. Ongoing training and support will be provided weekly through regular check-ins with a supervisor, collaborative planning sessions, and real-time coaching during program delivery. Interns will also have access to existing curriculum resources, templates, and examples to guide their work, as well as opportunities to observe experienced staff leading programs. Because this role involves working with minors, Mandated Reporter training is required and will be provided at the start of the internship. Interns will also receive training in child safety policies, behavior management strategies, and appropriate communication with youth to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all participants.
