Veterans Benefit Specialist InternAt — CSUSM Veteran Services

Opportunity Summary 

Assist the school certifying officials in the veterans center on campus with clerical duties and assist students using VA benefits. This includes veterans and dependents utilizing sponsored veteran federal benefits to include but not limited to 1606/Chapter 30/31/33/35.This position not only furthers knowledge of VA educational benefits, but also helps expose students to work in line with working on a college campus (academic advising, veterans center, admissions, etc.)

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

-Knowledge of VA educational benefits and how to determine eligibility -Knowledge of 100% P&T VA federal loan forgiveness and CA state benefits for veterans and their families -Knowledge of the certification process that has been utilized by college campuses since the founding of the GI Bill in 1944. -Experience working with diverse populations and military affiliated students.

Opportunity Training 

Mandated Reported training is provided.

Student may be asked to lift boxes of printer paper.
