The Physical Therapy Aide supports licensed Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants in delivering high-quality patient care. This role assists with preparing treatment areas, maintaining equipment, supervising prescribed exercises under direction, and ensuring an organized, safe, and welcoming environment for patients. The Physical Therapy Aide plays an important role in enhancing clinic efficiency and promoting positive patient experiences.
Clinical Knowledge Understanding of basic human anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of common orthopedic, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions. Familiarity with rehabilitation principles and treatment progression. Understanding of therapeutic exercise techniques and modalities. Awareness of infection control and patient safety standards. Patient Care Skills Patient interaction and customer service. Professional communication with diverse patient populations. Patient assistance and mobility support techniques. Observation and reporting of patient responses during treatment. Building rapport and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Clinic Orientation: Introduction to clinic policies, procedures, workflow, professionalism, workplace expectations, and patient confidentiality requirements (HIPAA). Patient Safety and Infection Control: Instruction on proper cleaning and sanitization procedures, hand hygiene, equipment maintenance, emergency procedures, and safe patient interactions. Therapeutic Exercise Assistance: Training on how to prepare patients for treatment, set up exercise stations, monitor exercises under therapist supervision, and properly use rehabilitation equipment.
