Center ARTES Media InternAt — CSUSM School of Arts
The Center ARTES Media Internship is a hands-on learning experience for college students interested in working with arts and education and seeking experience with content creation and management. The internship role provides support for monthly professional development events in person, remote management of an archive of digital content for social media and marketing materials, and assistance with website updates. The ideal candidate is interested in arts and education, can work independently with members of a dynamic creative team, and is familiar with using photography and video editing to create and design content. Position Purpose The Center ARTES Media Internship will contribute to the growth and impact of Center ARTES, the Faculty Fellows, Art=Opportunity, and the CREATE Residency, an ongoing collaborative effort of the School of Arts and School of Education.
Core Responsibilities Content Creation and Management • Design and create promotional materials using branded graphics • Designing engaging social media content using graphics, photography, and short form video •Create and maintain a consistent calendar and posting schedule Event Coverage and Media Development •Attend professional development events to capture photo and video content •Create event recap content for social media and website updates •Assist in website updates to reflect current events and opportunities •Organize and maintain digital media for future use Learning Objectives By completing this internship, students will: •Build hands on experience in content creation and social media management •Develop practical skills in graphic and layout design •Develop abilities in digital storytelling •Build a portfolio of professional work examples Deliverables At the completion of the internship, students will provide: •Social media content portfolio (with posts, stories, reels, videos) •A content calendar and social media posting plan •Event flyers, website, or promotional materials as needed •Updated website content Ideal Candidate This opportunity is ideal for students who: •Have an interest in art and education •Are organized and able to manage deadlines independently •Are creative and comfortable generating content ideas in line with the Center ARTES mission •Interested in developing professional communication, graphic design, or digital media skills for a professional portfolio •Are comfortable attending events and capturing media content Skill Development/Benefits to Students •Hands on experience with social media strategy, digital archive management, using branded graphics, content planning, event planning and support, photography, videography, and editing, website content management •Building professional experience, creative portfolio, communication and design skills, networking, and contributing to campus initiatives
Interns will work with faculty and fellows to receive guidance and training with branded materials, and participate in preparatory exercises for the in person events. Interns will have access to necessary equipment such as cameras through the School of Arts.
