Opportunity Summary 

The primary responsibilities will be completing the weekly assigned tasks, organizing and doing voter registration efforts, creating proposals, attending team meetings, participating in team discussions, championing effective communication, attending educational and speaker events, and doing half of their hours with action-oriented civics

Join a team of mission-driven young people from across the United States working to amplify youth civic engagement and strengthen democracy. Interns can participate in activism and civic engagement around issues they care about, including climate change, criminal justice, reproductive rights, gun violence prevention, and voting access.

Hours: Choose 5–30+ hours per week

End Date: Flexible Application Deadline: Rolling; applications accepted year-round until positions are filled.

This is a great opportunity to make an impact in your community, develop your civic and organizing skills, and connect with like-minded young people. Interns collaborate on projects, communicate regularly, and meet virtually each week.

Activities include organizing voter registration and turnout projects, conducting targeted outreach, participating in civic actions, engaging in advocacy, attending the TurnUp Speaker Series, volunteering together, and conducting civic and activism-related research/writing.

Key Curriculum: Work on teams to participate in grassroots activism, advocacy on civic and issues you care about and voter registration/turnout efforts while doing research to become better educated and aware about these topics. Complete projects on grassroot activism and attending speaker event

  • Research and stay informed about current social and political issues relevant to TurnUp Activism’s focus areas
  • Participate in meetings to practice effective communication of TurnUp Activism’s goals and progress
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the broader activism landscape and its implications for TurnUp’s mission
  • Participate in amplifying youth civic engagement
  • Develop professional skills pertinent to your next academic or career steps
  • Develop your self understanding as pertains to becoming an engaged citizen
Opportunity Training 

Students are trained by their team leaders regarding all aspects of civic engagement and how to do the assigned tasks and grassroots activities.
